In implementation of the directives of the Minister of Transport, Engineer Abdullah Laibi, in developing the warehouse space for Iraqi ports.

In the presence of Dr. Eng. Safaa Abdel Hussein, Director of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, and a number of guests, AB 25-24 operating yard was opened today, January 25-24, for storing containers as part of joint operation projects with Rayana Al-Oud Company.

The director of the General Company for Iraqi Ports said in a speech delivered by the way: These projects will double the storage capacity of the ports, praising the efforts made in accomplishing this work.

Stressing: that the Iraqi ports have taken serious steps to activate the partnership with the private sector locally, or otherwise, in order to increase the capacity of the ports to reach what is targeted within the government program prepared 35 million tons annually of various tonnages.

He added: These actions undertaken by our company will make us compete with other ports for the good land and sea services we provide.

While t. Ghosoon Khalaf Jaz Jaaz, Project Manager: The total area of ​​the project amounts to 85,800 m 2, divided into two activities, for storing containers with an area of ​​33,000 m 2, designated to accommodate 1800 containers, and the other activity as a yard for accommodating trucks.

She added: The project included earth dictates with mixed gravel A, B and C, and then the work of paving muqarnas with the establishment of an integrated rain sewer network in addition to electrical installations and lighting works with the provision of the yard with surveillance cameras with other technical works represented by buildings and caravans with the rehabilitation of roads leading to the yard.

For his part, the managing director of Riana Company, Mr. Saad Al-Taie, praised the great role that the Ministry of Transport and the Iraqi Ports Company played in overcoming the obstacles to implementing this project, appreciating the great efforts of His Excellency the Minister of Transport, Engineer Abdullah Laibi, and the Director General of the Ports Company, Dr. Eng. Safaa Abdel Hussein.

It is worth noting that Iraq’s ports have many projects within the joint operation contracts with local and foreign companies. These contracts contributed to increasing the commercial activity of the ports and achieved good revenues.
